Cardholders with the Sapphire Reserve fork over a pretty penny for the privilege, yet they get benefits like a $300 annual travel credit, a credit of up to $100 toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck membership and Priority Pass Select airport lounge membership that has a retail value of around $429.
Also, be aware that points earned with the Sapphire Reserve are worth 50 percent more when redeemed for travel through Chase, compared to the 25 percent rewards bonus you get with the Sapphire Preferred.
A few other perks can make the Sapphire Reserve a better value if you use them. For example, you get up to $60 in DoorDash credits and up to $120 in Peloton credits through the end of 2021.

Which Chase sign-up bonus should you choose?
The Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus is enticing, and it’s the highest we have ever seen. With that in mind, you have some work to do when it comes to figuring out which Chase Sapphire card is best for your needs.
While the Sapphire Reserve has a much higher annual fee of $550 and a considerably smaller bonus offer, travel benefits like airport lounge access, an annual $300 travel credit and a fee credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck membership secure its value. Not only that, but points are worth 1.5 cents each when you redeem them for travel through Chase, compared to just 1.25 cents per point in value with the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Should you get the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Chase Sapphire Reserve? We suggest thinking over the Sapphire Reserve benefits and how often you would use them, as well as whether you are OK with a high annual fee. If you can live without luxury travel benefits and you prefer a higher bonus with a lower annual fee, the Sapphire Preferred is the better deal.
