PenFed misled for almost 3 months
I was pre-approved and then conditionally approved for a refinance . I have credit score 780. Everything fell into place including appraisal. Then after 2.5 months PenFed said they couldn’t loan on property over 15 acres. Mine was .03 over. I pointed out to management they had that info on day one. Then they said the second guest house meant it was a multiple family. The appraiser wrote that it was not. Again, what was on the property was known since day one. They still declined later stating saying there was insufficient collateral. They costs me almost 3 months of time consistently saying they could make the loan, while I paid for appraisal, survey and pest inspection, while rates went up. I switched to another bank and closed within 45 days. Nothing changed regarding loan type, only market interests rates had gone up a bit. Their dealing was strange, unprofessional and caused losses to me.
