    Required Palette Guidelines

    Bankrate.com reserves the right to maintain its user experience by clearly distinguishing the advertising and editorial relationship on the Bankrate.com Web site. Advertisements may not utilize colors that mirror the look of the Bankrate.com site, and must display advertiser names and/or logos that are sufficiently prominent as to avoid any user confusion.

    Bankrate requires the following palette guidelines in all Display Advertisements and customized co-branded landing pages:
    Our guidelines require that Advertiser display advertisements or customized co-branded landing pages not mirror the look and feel of the Bankrate.com site. Below are the colors used in the Bankrate.com palette. These exact color values within a range of +/- 20%, used either individually or in combination, yielding a look and feel that resembles Bankrate.com are against guidelines.

    Required Logo Size Guidelines
    In an effort to clearly label advertisements as such, Bankrate requires the following Advertiser name and/or logo sizes in all Display Advertisements:
    Leaderboard, Skyscraper, Poster, and Island advertisements:
    Advertiser Name/ Logo: Horizontal Orientation
     

    If a rectangular logo that is horizontally oriented, the minimum dimensions are: 100 w x 50 pixels.

      If a square logo, the minimum dimensions are: 75 x 75 pixels.
      The advertiser name must be horizontally oriented and clearly readable.
      Rectangular logos orientated vertically within the ad unit will not be accepted.
    Badge Advertisement:
    Advertiser Name/Logo: Horizontal Orientation
      If a rectangular logo that is horizontally oriented, the minimum dimensions are: 100 w x 25 pixels.
      If a square logo, the minimum dimensions are: 50 x 50 pixels.
      The advertiser name must be horizontally oriented and clearly readable.
      Rectangular logos orientated vertically within the ad unit will not be accepted.

    Third-Party Served Advertisements  

    Third party ad serving is only allowed on Bankrate.com by approved third-party ad servers.

    All ad creatives and redirect tags that call the third-party ad server must be tested and pre-approved by Bankrate.com prior to the campaign start date. Furthermore, if during an active campaign additional creative is added by the advertiser through a third-party ad server, such creative must be reviewed and approved by Bankrate before placed on the site.

    Ad creatives served by third-party servers must adhere to the Bankrate ad specifications and Size Requirements.

    Ad opportunities:

    3) Skyscraper 120 x 600 (16k max) or 160 x 600 (20k max)
      Advertiser is requested to send both text and display ads.

    Standalone E-Mails

    Text: Advertiser is the entire e-mail: 600 words or 3,000 character limit. 15k total limit.
    HTML: Formatted text/images of GIF/JPEG no larger than 18k and 400x520 pixels. Images are to be served on the advertiser's end. 30k total limit (text + images).

    All Newsletters/Standalones: AOL users receive fully compliant MULTIPART e-mails, so they will receive either a text or an HTML e-mail depending on whichever format their specific version of AOL can display.

     

    Subject lines: 68 Characters maximum, including spaces. Use normal text, with minimal usage of caps and punctuation. Excessive usage of caps or punctuation in a subject line may cause the recipient’s e-mail server to detect the e-mail as spam, and either delete your message or send it to a “spam” folder.

    The usage of certain words/phrases in a subject line may also increase the “spam rating” of your message. Words and phrases to avoid: Available, Buy, Check it out, Click, Click here, Discount, Enhanced, Exciting, Free, Home page, Hot, Log in, More, Offers, Opportunity, Select, Special.

    Destination URLs and Landing Pages  
    Guidelines
    Pages that are linked to from an advertisement ("Landing Pages" or "Destination Pages") must not mirror the look and feel of the Bankrate Web site. Refer to the "Required Palette Guidelines" section above.
    The destination Web page must clearly identify your organization.
    Clearly state the purpose for collecting any personal information on your destination Web page.
    Provide a direct link to your privacy and data collection policy.

    Bankrate will no longer allow the use of its name or logo (e.g. "As Seen on Bankrate") on Advertisement Landing Pages or Advertiser's Web site pages unless permission is expressly granted by Bankrate.
